DALI to 0–10V: Key Compatibility Questions
Technical education for lighting-control selection and planning. Always confirm model-specific electrical requirements in the relevant manufacturer documentation.
Why conversion is used
Some existing LED drivers use analogue dimming even when a new control architecture is based on DALI. A converter can connect suitable systems if the electrical interfaces and control behavior match.
Check output behavior
A 0–10V interface can involve different arrangements for sourcing and sinking current. Examine the driver manual and converter datasheet to confirm compatibility, voltage range, current capacity and the behavior at minimum signal level.
Understand feature limits
A digital bus can provide features that an analogue dimming output cannot represent. Do not assume that device feedback, individual addressing or every scene function passes through an analogue converter.
Plan a real test
Test the minimum level, maximum level, switching behavior and dimming response with the actual driver and controller before deploying the solution throughout a building.
