Begin with the space

Record whether the application is a corridor, workspace, meeting room or outdoor area. A sensor positioned for one use case may not detect movement or daylight appropriately in another.

Coverage and mounting

Check the specified mounting height, detection field and the position of partitions, shelving, furniture or other obstructions. Avoid treating a published maximum range as a guaranteed result in every room.

Daylight considerations

A sensor near a window may see very different light levels from the occupied work plane. Commission the system using the actual environment and desired lighting behavior.

Confirm compatibility

Choose a sensor that fits the mechanical interface and communicates appropriately with the controller. Check power and environmental limitations before installing.
